Rehearsal Blog #3

 REHEARSAL BLOG #3:

Date of Rehearsal: 2/12/22

In todays rehearsal we firstly sat down to catch up and figure out how we wanted to stage the piece so that we could get a better feel for the environment we would be in when performing the scene. So we both decided a basic dinning room set up would work effectively for this scene, so that is what we settled for.

Before we jumped into walking through the script, we had a watch of the version that we had watched so that we could see how they did it and add that on to our own interpretation of the piece. When it came to the piece itself, knowing that we had to do it in the style of Stanislavski, we wanted the piece to feel natural, so we decided that we would just go through the script and let our instincts take over and do it. So we did a basic read though whilst also adding actions and moving around the space that we knew we would be performing in.

After we had done this, in the second half of the lesson, We had Tanya come and watch and give us feedback on what we had done so far. Tanya told us that we had to make our movements seemed less staged and more natural in that they would flow with what was being said at the time, Along with this that I needed to add more energy and make my movements more spontaneous so that it reflected the character of Nora. Once we had been given this feedback it helped us when we went to tweak parts of our staging.

Resources we used today:

Today we used our scripts for our words that we had yet to learn and also the production of a dolls house that we had watched in class so that we could take inspiration from their version of the scene.

Reflection on my contribution to the scene and how well we worked today:

In my personal opinion, we worked well with the time that we had today when it came to working on our scene, I believe that I could have contributed more in todays lesson, however I was becoming ill and had lost most my voice so I tired my hardest to work around these challenges.
