Frantic Assembly

Chair Duet :

In this video me and my partner have worked together as can be seen to create a chair duet. We started of creating this simply starting with points of contact, in which when we touch our partner there it then flowed into another point of contact and so on. We then worked on the piece that we created to get it as smooth as possible.

Group Work :

In this video me and my group worked together to create a piece of physical theatre which is what you can see here. We started off with the idea of having someone in the centre who was the main person who would be the one taking contact and reactions from others. This took a while to develop as we needed to make it flow while also including levels, but after a while of rehearsing and practicing we created a final piece which flowed quite smoothly which can be seen here.

Previous knowledge :

When it comes to physical theatre, Before this lesson I knew a little bit on it when it came to things like chair duets as I had explored this in my GCSE drama work, However I did not know much of the details on it when it came to how it was created and the way it worked fully. But after this lesson, I now know a lot more on it than I did and personally find it a very interesting style of theatre to work in.

Frantic Assembly's practices :

When it came to the way in that Frantic Assembly produce their Physical theatre, I found it a quite interesting way of coming around it. The thing that stuck out the most to me was the way in which used music to inspire their work and used it as the main building block. I found this an interesting concept as normally the idea of the piece of theatre would come first before the music, So I found this very eye-opening in the ways that theatre can be produced and explored.

Another one of the building blocks that Frantic use a lot is round-by-through, which is in that a pair would take it in turns in that one goes round and then the other goes through and then stand by them. After they have a simple set of moves down, they like to add weight and speed to help develop it to then create a story. So in by allowing the moves they create to motivate the story instead of the story motivating the moves is a very interesting way to go about theatre in my opinion.

Given More Time :

If I was given more time in todays lesson I would have like to explore further on group work when it came to physical theatre as even though it was challenging, I found it to be the most interesting to put together.
