rehearsal blog #11

Group members present : Chloe, Sam, Emma, Melissa, Adama, Saskia

In todays rehearsal it was only a very short one in which we wanted to come together to try and think of motives and transitions of characters from scene to scene to make sure the piece moved with purpose. Along with this, we finished off the rehearsal time by putting in words into our final scene to make it more impactful and really find an ending to our piece.

Moments of discovery or concerns/ problems

In todays rehearsal we didn't get up to much as this was one of our final ones before our main tech and dress rehearsals of the show. When it came to what we wanted to get done today, we already knew we had all the scenes that we wanted done and dusted for the production however we fell into the trap of having no motives for any of our characters to be doing some scenes or even moving from scene to scene so we wanted to make sure that this was sorted out so that our piece would flow with purpose and be readable to the audience what was going on. This however did take us quite a while to get sorted as it was very unclear is some scenes if there were any motives to start off with. But over time we managed to get every scene movement a motive which allowed us to be able to perform the piece with more characterisation.

In todays lesson no clear resources where used when doing this small activity.

Reflection on my contribution to the group and how well the group as a whole worked today

In todays rehearsal I believe that I could have contributed a lot more than I did when it came to the transitions and their motives. However, I was finding it hard when it came to a lot of them why a character would even move to another room and how to make the change in mood not seem out of place and odd. So I would have like to personally contribute a lot more. When it came to how me and my group worked in todays rehearsal, we were able to come together to help each other give our characters purpose and meaning for doing things especially when we ourselves could not think of a clear reason why our character would be doing a certain thing.
