Rehearsal blog #3

 Date : 27th February

Group members present : Chloe, Sam, Emma, Melissa, Adama, Saskia

Activities we did: In this group meeting we brainstormed some ideas and then went of into three groups and two of us experimented with how chair duets can be used to show emotion while the others worked on an argument using lines from the original A Dolls House script. We then experimented more with arguments in which the people arguing got moved around and manipulated by someone.

Moments of discovery or concerns/ problems

Today was our first rehearsal out of lesson time were we all came in on one of our frees to develop ideas for our piece. As we were in groups I cannot fully comment on the others specific discoveries and problems. However, when it came to what me and my partner discovered was that to be able to make out chair duet show the feeling of support we needed to soften our movements and make them a lot more physical as when we first started developing it we found it wasn't really reflecting what we wanted it to. When it came to the other groups, when giving feedback, we found that if we wanted to develop a well put together argument scene we needed to just improvise to make it feel more natural rather than reading from parts of the script from A Dolls House - when we went to improvise the argument it began to feel a lot more natural.

Resources used today

When it came to resources we used today in our rehearsal included;
- The script of A Dolls House

Reflection on my contribution to the group and how well the group as a whole worked today

In todays lesson I feel like I contributed less than last time and I feel like I should have contributed more. When it came to what we did today, we mainly split into smaller groups and worked on our own separate elements for the piece as a whole and we would then get feedback from other groups on our progress and how they felt it worked and didn't. In that respect we worked very well as a group as a whole to give each other feedback on what to improve and work on. By the end of the rehearsal, I felt I was finally contributing more when it came to us trying to figure out where we wanted to place our scenes so far in the production as a whole - this may have been apparent as I find it easier to contribute in the more planning logical side compared to the more doing aspect. But I feel like I contributed more in the playing aspect this time which I am very happy with. Overall, today we all worked well together to compliment what we were working on today.
