rehearsal blog #7

  Date : 17th March

Group members present : Chloe, Emma, Melissa, Adama, Saskia

In todays rehearsal we were very productive and this has to be our most productive rehearsal yet. Not only did we finally finalise our blocking situation for every scene but we also worked on more ideas for scenes that would help complete our piece. During this we spent time practicing different scenes, however we were limited on what we could do due to a missing member on that day.

Moments of discovery or concerns/ problems

During todays rehearsal our today we were surprised with the news that one of our members would not be present on that day so we then had to work around this. As the final show date is coming up soon, we decided that we really needed to work on our blocking for the production so that we could start piecing scenes together and making the piece flow as a whole. When we started off doing this all was going well until we found a hole in the piece in which we could not connection some sections. So we all had to come together to find ways in which we could piece these scenes together, and in this case it meant creating new scenes that could help allow the charters to then move from one main scene to another even if this meant they were involved in a smaller scene.

Once we had overcome our blocking situation we decided it would be best if we stuck with it from now and tried to not make changes as this would ease our progress when it came to creating the piece. With the rest of the lesson ahead of us we split off into groups as usual to target scenes that were not yet created and finished.

Resources used today

In todays lesson the only resources that we used a lot were our past planning documents.

Reflection on my contribution to the group and how well the group as a whole worked today

When it came to today, I felt this was the day that I have contributed the most so far in that I helped make some of the more logical decisions when it came to how things would work and how we would need to set up our set and scenes for them to connect and flow to make the piece work effectively and be easy to follow as an audience member. Today, when it came to how we all worked as a group, I think that we all worked effectively and used everyone's skill sets to make sure that we could complete everything that was needed in that day with the time that we were given. If it could come to what I wish to improve on next time, I would like to make sure that I get more involved when it comes to the more physical aspects of the piece rather than focusing more on the logical aspect, However due to me feeling light headed most of the lesson I could not focus as much as I would have liked to.
